Our Team

The Australian Innovation & Creativity Report is being driven by two individuals who not only have a passion for Innovation & Creativity, but also for improving the potential of individuals, teams and organisations.

All Innovation & Creativity within an organisation is driven by its people. When Mark Purbrick and Gary Bertwistle started lamenting the fact that managers and business owners were not serious about Innovation & Creativity in their organisations, it was agreed that in order for organisations to truly unlock the great ideas within their people they would have to have some form of measure.

As no measure previously existed, Gary and Mark agreed to create one, hence The Australian Innovation & Creativity Report was born.

Gary Bertwistle:

Gary is now recognised as Australia’s new pioneer in thinking. As a best selling author, Gary has published four books – The Keys to Creativity in 2006, Who Stole My Mojo? in 2008, What Made You Think of That? in 2009 and most recently, The Vibe.

Gary is a keynote speaker whose topics include the thinking behind creativity, innovation, marketing, brand and performance. In 2002, he opened Australia’s first ever creative thinking venue at Fox Studios in Sydney called The Ideas Vault, which is used by some of the countries biggest corporations for their creative thinking, meetings, seminars and training sessions. Gary has won the TEC Speaker of the Year award in both 2007 and 2008 and is renowned for his simple and easy going style, passion and drive in helping people to think differently about their life, family, business and Mojo.

Gary is the co-founder of Australia’s leading cycling foundation, the Tour de Cure, which raises money in an effort to cure Cancer. The Tour de Cure has raised in excess of $2 million dollars in donations and millions in publicity since it’s inception in 2007. Gary has also founded the Day of Inspiration, a corporate fundraising annual event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney, which gathers together keynote speakers, entertainers and performers for a one day event to raise awareness and funds towards the curing of Cancer.

Mark Purbrick:

Mark Purbrick has an extensive background in hospitality, retail, direct marketing and executive management and uses this experience to consult to businesses of all sizes and across all sectors. This experience is used to full effect with his extensive involvement with Australian organisations helping them to dramatically increase individual and team customer service and sales performance.

Mark is currently the Regional Director for Profiles International and the Chief Executive Officer of Corragio.net (executive leadership organisation). Past roles include the Chief Executive Officer/Director of The Wine Society and the Trading Manager for The Fosters Group (Wine Clubs Division). Mark also serves as a Board Member of the Australian Wine & Brandy Corporation (the Australian wine industry peak government/industry regulatory body) and on a number of other company Boards.

It is Mark’s view that nearly every executive will say that their people are the most important asset to their business, but not many follow this up with action. All executives will say that they want their employees to be innovative, but do they encourage them to be innovative?
